Once the telephone rang in the cabinet of Kantele Director.
— Allo? Is it “Kantele”? — asked a childish voice.
— Right, what would you like? — asked Lilia Stepanova back.
— Well, are you able to sew the costume of a knight for me?

Such a question wasn’t unexpected for our Director. Because in the Kantele House we have the National Costume Workshop! And in this workshop all the costumes for the concert performances of the Kantele ensemble and Youth studio are produced. In addition to our Kantele masters, we co-operate closely with different artists, script writers, dress designers… In the programme “ The echoes of Zaonezhye fairs” the Kantele ensemble performs in the costumes made by Irina Pronina as well as in the programme “Karsikko” – in the costumes made by Alla Vlasenko. Almost on all the pages of our Website you can meet a young woman dressed in a wonderful national costume… This woman is a soloist of the Kantele ensemble, Irina Popova. Stylish and modern and sometimes unexpected decisions are our “face”, the face of “Kantele”!

The friendly staff of the workshop consists of professional, experienced masters that are well acquainted with the technology of producing national and performing costumes and are able to cope with the modern equipment of the workshop.

We produce exclusive models for each client as well as models to order, using the personal scripts of customers.

Our artists, dress cutters and dress makers are very responsible for their work.

“Kantele” also offers a hire service of costumes and accessories – such as shawls, belts, purses, small waist-bags. In addition, we also do all kinds of restoration and repair work according to costumes and produce shoes, hats and clothes elements in a folk manner.
