Youth Studio

Couldn’t you agree more that the house is impossible to imagine without childish voices, laugh and music! That’s why in our House kanteles “smile” in childish hands, the instrumental ensemble stirs the public with its performances, young dancers master new folk movements. That’s the Youth studio of the Kantele ensemble that celebrates the 5th anniversary in 2006 – the age of the youngest members. And each year one hundred children at the age of 15 sing, dance, play different instruments, learn languages (especially for the right singing).

Young artists grow up and together with them the professional skill and the love to their native roots grow too. The main principle of selecting the repertoire is keeping the customs and traditions of Karelian people. The programmes of the Youth studio are the continuation of the best traditions of the Kantele ensemble. With the latter many members of the studio are going to connect their lives!

Artists and pedagogues, honoured workers of the Culture of Karelia – N. Akulishnina and L. Bogdanova, the former soloist of the Drama Theatre I. Stepanova and present artists of the ensemble share their experience and souls with young studio members. Young artists take part in “Town’s day”, promotions, performances at schools and kindergartens, give joy to their parents by achievements in review concerts.

Quite recently, in July, the dance group of the Youth studio became the prize-winner of the International festival “Primorsko-2005” in Bulgaria, later the ensemble of kantelists gained two first places in the International Festival-Concourse of children’s and youth creativity “The joyful rainbow” in Odessa.

The “relay-race” of the Kantele art is going on! The way to “Kantele” is open!
